The Royal Thai Police has launched the Safe Roads Project, effective from June 1, 2025, to enhance road safety across the country.
Key Provisions
All motorcycle riders and passengers are now legally required to wear safety helmets at all times. Whether you are on a short or long journey, or traveling through any type of environment, wearing a helmet is mandatory.
Penalties for Non-Compliance
A fine of up to 2,000 THB per person will be imposed if you are found not wearing a helmet.
If both the rider and the passengerare not wearing helmets, the fine may reach up to 4,000 THB.
Targeted Enforcement Areas
Authorities will strictly monitor the following locations:
– High-traffic zones
– Areas with frequent accidents
– School and university zones
