Migrant Community Health Promotion Program

Division of Communicable Disease Prevention, Control, and Border Public Health

Mae Sot Hospital

Context of Mae Sot District, Tak Province

Mae Sot District is an urban area with a large migrant population, consisting primarily of migrant workers and their accompanying family members, including children, women of reproductive age, and older persons. There are 14 densely populated migrant communities living alongside Thai communities.

A key public health challenge among these populations is limited access to basic healthcare services. In response, healthcare services have been provided to prevent cross-border communicable diseases and vaccine-preventable diseases, while also promoting maternal and child health. These initiatives are implemented in accordance with Mae Sot Hospital’s border health policy.

Roadmap

To improve access to basic healthcare services and develop migrant learning centers into migrant health-promoting schools.
